Final

Synopsis

The alien shapes represents how we implement the Earth. Movements of the the entities highlight the ups and downs of society and how we are revolving and continuing to change. The focus is of course on the shapes because it shows how humankind has taken over the Earth, of forestry, of land and even air. Colours that were chosen were quite futuristic and also quite opaque because the impact of what we are doing being quite uncertain. The amount of pollution that we create is alarming which is why i faded out of the model at the end to "breathe" again and get away from all this technology and pollution. For all we know, the ending itself could also represent the bright "white light" for the Earth.

Windows movie maker troubles

Troubles with windows movie maker today.
But after 5 hours and 6 tries to upload it, it was a success.
Video complete! Have had to remake this 5 times, my goodness me.
Had a lot of animations and slide transitions and changes of speed in the previous videos but since that didn't seem to be working out, i worked with my "limitations" and created my final piece "Planet Earth"

making entities move up and down

Tips to remember on windows movie maker

The video quality will get worse if you put too many effects on it such as adjusting the speed and using too much of the animation. But this is needed so i'm not sure what to do.

Update on the progress of work

Lost all of it.

Last time my efforts to work till 12 at night was a waste of time because i came home with corrupted files.

Today i completed making my movie and then the parts of it stopped working and then all of it disappeared.

Thank you movie maker, I am very impressed.

Will work more on this tomorrow.
Correction, will finish this tomorrow.

scribbling of ideas

Possible title for this piece

"Planet Earth"

The odd moving shapes represent how we are implementing the Earth. The ups and downs and rotations of the good and bad of society. There is an alien feel to the various shapes, showing how the Earth now is rapidly changing into something entirely different from what it used to be. Forestry is disappearing and it is becoming more futuristic, but moving forward like this isn't always a good thing, which is why at the end of this film i intend to move way from the alien shapes and this will happen by either falling into the ocean or zooming out into the wider image of all the whole environment.

Idea for music

Below is a link to a song from jamendo titled "breathe" - Tyrad (instrumental). I would start the music from 4:07mins

Recording movement

View of the model, front view, this is so you can see the sunight in the background.

Possible starting point under water

Other possible starting point even deeper under the water.

Another view that i liked

Emerging from the forest?

First not so awful video recording.

Possible music

Found this song on Youtube, quite like the beat of it. Have found a light style that suits it perfectly.
Need to see if i will be able to use it in the video though.

Basic movement flow graph

Tried to make a basic flowgraph to make one of the components on the graph move but its not working and i have no idea why.

This one ratating object is working, but i don't understand why the component will not move up and down.

The idea i have for the animation is to watch as the model comes ut of the water and then fly into it.
After that the smaller objects will start moving around us.
The larger objects will spin aorund slowly.
Maybe it could be a little bit foggier and have more lights shining to make it more whimsical.

Getting rid of the display info and weapons

Got rid of the gun using this flowgraph that disabled all weapons

Got rid of the info text with this flowgraph.
Finally.

Developements

Wanted to create roots to place on the bottom of the model i made these but this might not work as well as planned. Have trouble actually moving them up to the model so i am going to try a different approach.
Now i am thinking of creating a grass and water terrain and making my model fly out from a mass of trees.
The audience will watch as it flies up.
After that the model will begin to spin and then we would fly up into the model and watch and land in a certain place.
When this place is reached we would then start going deeper into the model on the the part we had landed on and travel with it, and the smaller shapes would sought of fly around us. . . hopefully.

Added in a terrain and two types of trees, i had bush as well but i didn't like the way it glowed.
Things seem to be going to plan.
May make it rain as well, this will blend the trees together more.
Every time I load the model on i lose all the texture. So i figured that i might as well put the texture in when i actually need it for the movie because it's wasting a lot of time putting the texture over and over again every i go on Cryengine.

RAIN
I have made it rain! Huzzah!
Should now really begin to focus on the model and the animation.
Have a few thoughts for this:
Have it come out of the water and have parts of the model begin to spin after that.
Or having parts of it moving already as it is coming out of the water.
Not quite sure.
Time for some trial and error.

Inspiration for the animation for the model

http://obscurendure.blogspot.co.nz/2011/05/laputa-castle-in-sky-1986-dir-hayao.html
Inspiration from the film "Laputa castle in the sky"
Wondering if roots can be made in Cryengine to give my model a more earthy look to it.

Above are ideas of what i want to do with my animation.
Still need to find music as this would help a lot with the movement eg. When things should move, are there words that i want particular things to move with etc.

One hour lesson.

In the time of one hour i was able to create my model, give it texture and export it into Cryengine.
What i could not finish was making the movement of the object and making a frap (movie)

Cryengine - Beach balls

No idea what just happened.

Cryengine model - lights and shadow

Had to recreate the entire model i made in Cryengine because the other model did not save properly and I wasn't able to open the file.
The model i think now does look better than the last and i have also added in three lights inside parts of the model using "light style: 3" and shadows have also been added in.

Closer view of model.

Closer view of the white objects and the shadows that they create.
Should maybe think about putting a light inside of them as they would create really interesting shadows.

Sketchup to Cryengine

Finally able to place my model into Cryengine, took a couple of tries as it came up as beach balls in the first attempt, but now it is there.
The textures have put into Cryengine and a glow has been added to the smaller rectangular form. The model has been repeated and various sizes have been made of them.

More of the glowing retangular shapes have been added.
There is still a random floating pipe that needs to be gotten rid of.
Note: The texture of the shapes should change a bit to add more interest.

Re-creating the design on Sketchup

I had to re-create the entire Sketchup model since i was having problems putting it into Cryengine. It would have taken too long to edit every single aspect of the old model. Some components of it has changed though and i'm not sure if i like it. It does not look as visually appealing as the other design but i'm just hoping that it will be able to be put into Cryengine successfully.

Animation intentions

IDEA:

Have the hexagons as pieces that don't move in the model and the rest of the objects to be dispersing outwards and inwards.

Another idea is to look into kaleidoscopes and look into how they move.

First thing to do though is to find some inspiration through music.
